In August, 2016, NV Governor Brian Sandoval unveiled the first phase of the East Shore Tahoe Trail.  The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) project includes over 100 new parking spaces near State Route 28 and the intersection of Lakeshore Blvd., Incline Village, NV.  The parking spaces will link a new American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved bike path to Sand Harbor, and eventually along Tahoe’s East shore.  NDOT selected the Environmental Passive Integrated Conveyance (EPIC) system by Evaporative Control Systems (ECS) to help filter and clean stormwater entering Lake Tahoe.  Less real estate via storm ponds are needed because the EPIC system is located directly underneath the parking spaces, constructed with permeable concrete pavers.  Underneath the pavers, aggregate filtration and passive oil/grease separation from the design of the EPIC system help microbiological degradation breakdown oil, grease, and contaminants on site naturally; protecting the clarity of Lake Tahoe’s pristine waters.  Details of the system’s function will outlined in future blog posts as construction progresses.  Learn more about the bike path in the article link below, donation links to the Tahoe Fund are available in the article if you wish to be a part of the project.
